LTI: Leadership Training Institute
Jinkies! From September 7 to September 9 at Camp Young Judea in Wimberly, TX, thirty Southwest USYers and a slew of staff came together for SWUSY’s 62nd annual Leadership Training Institute. The theme of this year’s LTI was “SWUSY-Doo,” where the region’s leaders at large learned about teamwork, taking initiative, working together, and had some spooky fun!
All Regional General Board, Chapter Board, and rising SWUSY leaders were eligible to participate in this action-packed weekend. Some of the choicest programs included learning opportunities over recognizing media bias, how to plan a successful chapter program, how to make a newsletter, making triumphant phone calls, and so much more!
On Friday evening, SWUSYites lead amazing Shabbat services, and then broke boundaries in a no-staff-allowed program where they got a whole lot closer to one another. Saturday began with another round of USY-led services, some fun in the sun and at the pool, and a spooky scavenger hunt where SWUSY leaders had to search for the abducted Regional Executive Board – with the help of Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Team!
Overall, the weekend helped USYers become even stronger leaders and incorporated a fun and meaningful end-of-summer Shabbat. All of SWUSY and the REB can’t wait for the next conventions, after the year started off with a bang! Zoinks!
